I purchased a system for my 66 belvedere wagon. They sent me 2 switches both the same neither work. They line up all wrong. Both the control lever hits the front dash and the plug hits the rear line cable. Anyone else have this problem with a 66? Any and all feedback would be great. Been working on this on and off for about 5 months. I am getting very frusterated. Ready to return and try a different company. Also the lines sent run directly over the valve covers (ugly) and does not clear the 6 pack base.

I have their under hood components on my '73 Charger and I thought Classic Auto Air was great to work with. Their brackets worked fine on my BB motor and A/C compressor bolted right on. I only had to slot one of the holes in the bracket to get it to line up with the threaded hole on the WP housing.

I have the OEM HVAC box (rebuilt) in my car so I can't comment on how well their interior kits do or don't work. From what I have heard, anytime you go aftermarket on the HVAC boxes and controls themselves, you are looking at some modding to make it work. Probably nothing aftermarket is going to 'drop right in' unless you have a GM car or Furd Mustang.

If you can't use the controls, send them back and go elsewhere but I don't think it will be much better with another vendor.

I talked to their tech, Ron and he was awesome at working with me to bend custom lines and get me up and running ASAP. I had to get just about every fitting done custom as they didn't have a off-the-shelf kit for my car. I did the leg work with measuring and taking pictures and he got me the parts with a discount and now my A/C looks great and works nicely!

I had a great experience with the customer/tech service their and would definitely use them again.

I used their kit on a 69 RR that had factory air. I had to use non-air controls and i had no problems. They were very helpful when i called.

I installed their underdash system on my 67 Coronet. I had to modify the switch to get it to work, but my dash is an aftermarket one with the stock slots. So I'm not sure if it would be perfect if my dash was completely stock.

I made my own hoses.
Plus I did a better belt arrangement that grabs more of the pulleys than how they have it. Crank belt only drives A/C instead of both the waterpump and A/C.

I sent them the original compressor and drier from my survivor '70 Challenger R/T. I included explicit instructions via email and in the package not to repaint anything, as the original paints condition matched the overall very good survivor quality of the car.
Turns out that the compressor body had a broken crank and was not fixable, but my very nice drier came back re-painted..over the perfect part number and all. Very unhappy.
Other than that, the rebuilt components do work very well.

I just ran across this thread...I've done a few vehicles using the classic auto air components...Some are spot on and others need mods/swapped out....Take your time and let them help design your system and make them get the switch right...A phone call is usually all it takes to get the ball rolling in the direction you need...Not siding with them but how would they know what you need for a 66 wagon with a six pack ???

The AC fittings are pretty much standardized so if you tell them what you need to do as far as routing they will suggest what fittings are available to swap out...Depending on the model the lines are'nt routed the most appealing way and I've modded/upgraded quite a few times to get them where I need them to be...They've always been willing to work with me if I tell them what I want/expect from the custom system...
