I am chasing a vibration in my Hemi Cuda and took the tranny and clutch out last night to check the flyweel to make sure it is seated straight on the crank. Well to my surprise their seems to be alot of strang wear on the flyweel, looks like a break disc when the pad is gone. I have never seen anything like this on a flywheel before, but this is a RAM clutch which I have no experience with either. This only has 350 miles on it, what do you think? The Pressure plate side look like brand new with no noticable wear on it.

That is a semi metallic type of clutch so it's not surprising to see that type of wear on whatever side it rides on , the PP side must have the organic material against it .

Looks to have been slipped a bunch ?

Not a bunch of slipping no, just normal driving around with a few hard pulls. I did put it in the trailer a couple of times which requires some slipping to get it up the ramp.

Get a winch or sell the trailer

Looks like the flywheel wasnt ground either. That will eat a clutch fast.I pulled my Center Force after maybe a 1000 miles. It still looked new as did the flywheel. Its just like your clutch. It gets beat a lot.I never did care for Ram or Zoom clutches.Last Zoom I used went about 2K and fell apart.Rocky

I'm thinking you have a compatibility issue? Maybe the disc is made for a steel flywheels and you are using a iron flywheel? Or something like that.

Also like JohnRR said, those kind of disc can't take much slipping like a organic disc can. I don't care for those kind of disc on the street.

Yea that flywheel does not look like it was surfaced with a flywheel grinder with a round stone.

It is a brand new McLeod Billet Steel Flywheel. This is the first clutch on it.

Got it as part of a TKO-600 kit in Jan of 2011. Installed on motor with tranny in Sep of 2012. Started and running for the first time May of 2013. Always been stored inside.

Got a winch, it is just quicker / easier to drive it. Any frankly if it can't take that it isn't going to last long street driving either.

Two things come to mind, first fix the vibration Did you check the run out on the input shaft alignemnet to the bell housing? If not do that now If more than .004 out of round on the run out fix it, that may fix the vibration, if not find out what is casuing the vibration Second thing is that those type clucth lining are not very tolerant of slipping them I would put it back in and fix the vibration and drive it until it quits working well

That clutch is junk.im super cheap and I wouldnt run that thing.Look at the pics of pieces are missing on at least one of the pucks.Let alone it dosent look like much of the sintered material is left.Id almost say that clutch was dragging on the wheel.I have a wheel sitting in the garage that was turned probally 20 years ago and dosent look as bad as that fly wheel with rust.Rocky

Rats, I just threw away that same garbage disk and pp 3 days ago or I'd take a pic.
Same smeared up flywheel and the pp was cooked.
Those little brillo pads can't take any kind of torque, a few stuffs of the pedal and they're done.
And I wouldn't be surprised if it was the source of the vibration. After I took it apart the weights were rattling around like spray paint cans.
My 4th (and last) time with a ram product, all of them in the trash can within a few hundred miles and the second time with this hot little setup.
No mas.

I can't afford this. mark
