1. Is the plate between power brake booster and cowling on 70 hemi cuda different than non hemi's. Also, do mounting studs for brake booster go thru the cowling with the nuts inside the car or the opposite with the nuts showing under the hood?

E-body Hemi power brake firewall stiffening plate is the same as some E-body manual brake stiffening plates. It is not the same as the E-body power brake stiffening plate.

Firewall mounting studs install in offset booster brackets. Tighten nuts inside the car.

alan,
doctordiff (Cass) is right. He also sells theparts or booster for what you are doing. Cass is a great guy and highly respected by many here

Does the use of the manual brake firewall plate apply to the power brake 'B' body Hemi cars also?

Yes it dose Roger,....66-70, B Bodies you have to use the manual master cylinder plate, as the pedal pushrod hole in the manual plate is lower than the power booster plate (standard power booster application, where the booster is mounted directly on the firewall, no offset)


71 B body also need to use the manual master plate as well if using a "HEMI" booster......the 71 B body plate is the same a E body


The reason being, as I stated above for using the manual master cyl plate, is the "HEMI" booster set up, the main push rod bolts directly to the pedal,....where as in NON-HEMI applications of power boosters, there an intermediate linkage bellcrank assy located on the pedal bracket assy inside the car to raise the linkage, to center it on the power booster, where the booster would be bolted directly to the firewall, because of this a seperate "power" plate was made,......The HEMI bracket set up raises the booster higher and approx 3 1/2 inches away from the firewall, thus you need to use a "manual" master cyl reinforcement plate
