Well I made a bunch of changes to my plymouth, and it definately helped the power but not the traction! Last time out, the car would not RPM over ~5800 and converter was slipping/flashing way to high. Swapped out the used 125lb/300lb valve springs for a set of 165lb/450lb new ones. That fixed the RPM issue. Sent the converter back to PTC for a stator change, so that fixed the slipping/high flash stall issue. The car was also at the point where it was going hard right on launch, and sagging on the right rear. So I added some spring clamps since last time out too. Well first of all, now the converter is so tight I'm having a heck of a time getting it to spool. With the anemic power of the motor without the turbo, it will only stall at ~2300rpm. Takes almost 8 seconds from full throttle to make it to launch boost. Also, between the converter and/or the spring clamps, it will NOT hook at all. Made the first three passes and it just RIPPED the tires. I did roll back into it though so I could see what the MPH was. Promising so each time it ripped the tires I started adding some timing into it. Picked up 4mph alone with just timing changes this weekend! Finally kept backing down the boost/RPM and timing on the launch and got it to hook. Red lit in the 2nd round (car rolled in trying to fight off the tight converter), so I ran it out the back door. Previous best (1500ft DA) 60ft - 1.50 1/8 ET - 6.74 1/8 MPH - 103 1/4 ET - 10.58 1/4 MPH - 128 New Best (3500ft DA) 60ft - 1.68 1/8 ET - 6.74 1/8 MPH - 105.74 1/4 ET - 10.48 1/4 MPH - 130.59 If I can get the 60ft back where it was, this thing is really going to fly. Most impressive that 105.74mph in the 1/8 mile @3700lbs is really making some power now. Gotta be near or maybe even a touch over ~700hp I would guess. Most often comment heard this weekend. "That thing is so ugly it's cool."

Post vids or it didn't happen.... Very impressed with your 360 project for sure...Keep at it. One of these days I will build somthing boosted. Meanwhile, I will have to learn from you, and your so called "ugly" car...Fast is beautiful baby! So how about spilling the beans on the combo as it sits currently: Trans Engine Gearing Turbo etc..

That's what I was thinking too, we were pitted about 10 trailers down from you and everytime we pulled out I was thinking "I bet that guy is having as much fun as anyone here, was really impressed with performance, especially as crappy as the air was this weekend.

Thanks guys. It's really starting to come together now.
I need to try moving the clamps on the spring or taking them back off. Should hook better then what it did this weekend. I have cal-tracks I could put on, but I don't want to ruin the sleeper look!
For those that don't know the combo:
360" Cast crank, stock rods (ARP) bolts, off the shelf probe pistons, home bowl ported iron heads, 224/218" cam .500"/.500" lift, 9.2:1, blow through non-intercooled E85. Truck manifolds feeding a S475 turbo (75mm/ 1.32AR), single 4" exhaust out the back.
Push button 727 (all stock parts except trans brake and super sprag). 9.5" PTC converter 8 3/4" with a 3.23 posi 275/60 M/T drag radials 3700lb race weight (with me)

If you told me a combo like that was a 10.40 combo at that weight, I would find it tough to wrap my head around it...Really cool. What stall was the convertor? Turbo combos are so foriegn to us around here, you almost never see them. Congrats, and put the Caltracs on, preferably with mono's...Best thing I ever did...

Dragula, ANOTHER good thing about turbo combos is that you don't need much of a converter (at least for 9 sec combos). I run a 3000 and bet his is close to that too.
How do you like your S475? If you could do it all over again would you use it again?
I think he's running a 4k convert and a glide w/ a trans brake.
