I know the 70/71 used a two piece trim on the front valance of some cars (SE's) my question is, can the one piece trim used on the 72-74's be made to work? I remember reading somewhere the answer was No, but if they are the same front valance, why not? Different front plate mounts perhaps?

Yes, but if i remember correctly the corners of the trim piece needs to be modified a little to fit.No big problem to make it fit.

Thank you, I was also told the lip was wider on the 72-74 style.

Yes 70 and 71 the same and take the same molding.

You can see the differnce from the 72-74 molding from your pictures.
