the most like the real deal with the repos?

It was frozen, (had been outside in a pile for years , thanks previous owner),
I got it freed up after a few weeks sitting full of PB Blaster,
but it would not sound right.

I drilled out the rivets and got the inside cleaned up real good,
but no matter how I adjust still no real Meep Meep sound, not even a usable horn even.

Does the Wolo 370 or any other horn sound right even if they do not look right?

I have the original for looks, now I want function and the best RR beep beep.

If I go repo, I have my bracket, or will get the short 74 bracket when I order.

Is the Mopar9999 seller or another repo maker a real good original type sound?

and for the record,
I have never seen the factory orginal location and mounting of a 74 RR horn. It is a little different because the canister is in the way.
I think it goes right behind the passenger side headlights, but the way it fits, the diaphragm points up, not the sticker adjustment side.
Any pics also appreciated.

would be a vapor canister where horn used to go previous years.

the location i can't help with but the horn itself has been used for years on lots of things such as forklifts and such. if you buy one from a reputable dealer (i suggest Dixie) and you're not happy with the 'tone' they would take it back. whats actually repo about them is the paint and sticker. they come with the correct bracket i believe.

Well, it's a shame you could'nt resurrect it from the dead by taking it apart and cleaning up everything...Sometimes the diaphram and/or components just give it up...Don't be in a big hurry to find one and you might run across one that needs some cosmetic work they pop up on here from time to time at a reasonable price...
The 73-74 road runners had a single horn located on the passenger side fender area where the factory hood pins are located {in front of the rad support}...Look closely and you'll see the round horn bolt mounting hole with a small indexing hole close by where the horn's tab fits...The original horn attaching bolt had a captured,serrated washer and may have left teeth marks where it was seated on the fender...
And on that note... ...Sorry could'nt resist... There was'nt a "road runner" specific wiring harness meaning if you look closely you'll find 2 horn leads on the harness...One is simply not used for the road runner with a single horn...

Thank you very much, I have never been able to find an underhood 74 pic, that is great. I have found ones that show canister and overflow, but never horn.

I thought it had to go on just in front where it used to go,



this will zero me in way better.

Now if only I can find a canister too.
