The chiltons manual might help but could leave you just the same... The 73 factory service manual is the book you want...It'll cover all those questions plus the one's you don't realize you need answered yet...

In the first pic the vac tree is an emission device that is in series between the vac line from the eng to the dist & blocks vac when coolant temp is above or below a certain point (not quite sure but that's the jist of it). If your state does not require emission devices to be hooked up then just run the vac line from a ported carb nipple to the dist & recurve it starting with the initial. The sender to the left of the tree is the temp sender unit & will have a small wire (purple iirc) with a little L connector thats pushed onto the threads. In the 2nd pic the large nipple is for power brakes & one of the small nipples is for A/C & not sure what the other one is for. If you ain't running power brakes & do not need a vac source for A/C or a vacuum guage or anything else then you can remove it & plug it with a 3/8" NPT plug. 73 was the worst year for discombobulated emission systems. I would check/degree the cam/timing gears/recurve the dist/toss the 73 carb

That's your best bet...Then you can print the page out and use it without worrying about getting it dirty...I've got a 73 FSM{book} and it's a pain trying to keep it clean when you're working...The hoses you'll need are actually color coded{striped} from the factory to make the routing easier...Not sure how the emissions are where you're at but around here it's just a visual inspection and it seems to be pretty relaxed about the pre-catalized cars... Alot don't have the factory spark/vacuum controlled goodies on them...Of course all that is out the window if you're after a concours resto...

Yep, get a Motor, Mitchell or OE manual.

The triple one is for dist. vacuum. IIRC, the bottom is manifold vacuum (to cool off when overheated) the middle is to dist. and the top is ported (blocked until warmed up, for faster warmup).

The rear one with the brake booster center also has small one. That is for HVAC as mentioned, and the other may be used for the EGR, since 72 was floor jet but 73 was a valve. You will also have a vacuum line to the air cleaner for the snorkel and there is usually a thermal fitting for the dist hose too.

Oh, and a vacuum amplifier for the EGR.

The EGR will be one off the amplifier, with the small manifold line to the amplifier (small feed), and a ported one (signal) to actuate the amplifier.
