Is there any off the shelf solid flat tappet camshafts way better the .590 purple shaft for a decent price or am I just better off staying with the .590. Looking to make alot of power down low like 3000-6800. This is for a 340 sb with w2 econo heads. 4000 stall
10" at the moment untill next year.

I would talk to Dwayne Porter. He speced my flat tappet which is close to the MP .590 but better in my opinion and did not cost no more then an off the shelf cam. Ron

Nice article. The .590 cam hung in there like you said but that hughes cam was
strong with almost identical Tq but another 20 hp for that combo. Thanks for the
replies so far guys!

save the 200+ bucks for the hughes cam..and buy a race converter...car will be faster.

look at the tq and hp averages through out your rpm range...very small differences.

I agree. Also head porting will get you the most horsepower gain, iirc
your heads are barely touched.

Yes thats true the heads are pretty much box stock. I got to look for some better
rockers. I just have stock ductile iron rockers that have been pretty well used. Would
like to step up to a 1.6 roller rocker. Those ductile iron rockers really aren't even suited for the .590 cam and deffiently not meant for anything even more radical!
