Anyone knows when to use the 2nd spring in the early front piston? There are sometimes only the inner spring and sometimes the weak outter spring. I would guess the outter isnt't really needed since it's so weak? Any reasons why mopar installed this?

Also, anyone uses this teflon-style rings on the accumulator and pistons? They don't seem to seal as well as the metal rings... where can I get the metal rings for the pistons only?

Thank you

Depending on vehicle application or engine determined number of springs in servo or accumulator. The seal rings are available from A&A Transmission which is a sponsor on this board.

I always use both. 727 are notorious for overlap between the 2nd gear band releasing and the 3rd gear clutch applying. I've never hard a 2-3 flare or slip issue when using both springs. Also use the max number of springs that fit your high clutch piston, preferably 15. The stock steel rings are fine. Any local trans supplier will carry a metal ring kit. About $12 in our area. I have plenty if you can't get them easily in your country.

Are you talking about the piston in the front drum or the piston/servo that applies the 2nd gear band??
