I was taking this 426 appart to rebuild it for a friend. The engine was laying for years and I really question the ability of the person who built it back then. When I removed the crank bolt I noticed the dampner was not flush with the end of the crankshaft. Is this normal on a 426? I know on RB motors that the dampner is flush. There is a 3/4" gap, as seen in the picture. Does this look right?

Just think where the back of the damper would be in relation to the timing chain cover if the front was flush with the bolt.

AS long as the balancer rearmost part of center is tight against the lower crank timing sproket, it is probably good.
