So I went to Virginia motorsports park Friday night and got to make a pass in the Challenger, just one because I didn't have a helmet. I tried with the traction control and esp off and manually shifted. Car went 12.97 @108 with a 1.97 60ft. 8.41 in the 1/8th @84mph. Car definitely is lacking any kind of launch and didn't really spin the tires. I now have a helmet again and will try some more passes soon.Don't really know what these cars are supposed to run but this car has 3.06 rear gears currently. Trying to not spend any more money on this until my Dart gets finished and really it is still fun as is...

Chris,
Is yours a 2011? We have a 2012 and Chrysler advertises it as a 12.50 car with an automatic. I have never tried it yet though to know for sure. I will say though, it is a blast to drive!

Yes it is a 2011, just bought it with 17K on it. I have a small burnout video from the track but I cant figure how to post it.maybe I will try a youtube link. Lucas I hope it will go better, maybe try it in drive with traction control on? Justhave to plat around with it I guess. Need to get some track tires though, can't afford to burn up street tires on this puppy!

Awesome! I have to ask, how did you get an SRT-8 w/o the Super Track Pack?

ESP made no difference on mine, but mine is a stick.

That was great.

The instant I dropped the clutch on mine it started hopping like a basketball.

Ok, I'll bit...what is the super track pack? I bought a new 2012 SRT8 and I have read the owners manual front to back and I don't recall seeing anything about a track pack? According to the options list, I have every option except the 18 speaker stereo system as well. Even the paint was an option, Redline Triple Coat Pearl.

Among other things the STP option gets you 3.92 gears, 20" chrome wheels, and some suspension changes. IIRC, it was about an extra $500 when I was pricing new Challengers.

I thought it was standard on an SRT car, but I guess I am wrong. I never spec'd a new SRT.

I think all SRTs have the STP. Autos don't get a 3.92 gear, there stuck with the 3.06 gear. The gears are decided for you if you get a stick. It's determined by the wheels you get.
STP is part of a package that gets a bigger rear end, diffrent tires , etc.

Super Track Pack is an option for R/T's.

Beequick, guys have been very low 12's in automatic cars like yours in good air. Those same guys have been 11.90's with nothing more than a higher stall converter and I believe drag radials.

Best mod is reducing the torque management. The trannies are only rated for 428lb-ft and the motor puts out 470+, so when they shift gears they yank timing. Rid that and you'll pick up 3 tenths right away.

There are a some automatics on Challengertalk that have hit 12.20's stock on street tires. They don't have the wheel hop issues that the m6 cars have. I've read about people picking up 40-60 horsepower with just a tune. A custom tune, not just a handheld tuner.
