I got some great feedback on the hood hinge alternative ( ordered from ringbrothers). I saw on the KAM site a hinge for 68-70 Chargers but nothing for other B Bodies. will the Charger hinges work on my 70 GTX? Or does anyone know of something else that will allow me to get rid of the tension bars?

Do you have a link to this hinge ? It should be adaptable to other B bodies of the same era.

Here is a link to a site I found offer ing a trunk hinge set up for "Chargers".

http://www.mattsclassicbowties.com/contents/en-us/d1383.html

They sure look similar, just wondering if anyone here has tried these.

I would need to see a picture of a B body trunk hinge next to a charger trunk hinge to make an educated statement ... or look in my 69 parts book which is at home to see if there is a different part number for the 2 hinges ... the only thing I can see without that comparison that would be different would be the strut as they seem to chose it based on lid weight and I imagine a std B body steel lid is heavier than a charger lid.

Otherwise those are some slick hinges , I like the hood hinges , the operation of it would be so nice with bearings and struts compared to the original design.

once you bend your hood because your 40 yr. old hinges are worn and rusy you'll be singing a different tune there mr.

I did not see $948 a set???? More like $350 for the trunk. I bought a set of the hood hinges from another source for $650. Pricey but AWESOME! No more creaking springs noise when opening and closing.Plus they LOOK killer!
Maybe you are adding hood and trunk to reach the $948 figure.

yes for front and rear, at $350 that's still too much. I'm not sure if the Charger units will work but i'd think Coronet/lite's would. In any event, you could probably grab a decent set at a show, or on e-bay for $25-50. As mentioned the roda might be differnet between 2 and 4 doors. look killer? who's going to open ur truck to look at the hinges...lol But hey i spend $2100 on a six pack when a decent intake a 4bbl would work, so who am I to judge.

Same reason I very analy painted the frame rails and connectors body color then taped them off to spray undercoat so they stand out. Who is going to get down there to look UNDER the car? BUT, I will know it is there just as you know about the 6 pack! It boils down to whatever blows our individual skirts up!

FWIW, the 69 & 70 parts books shows 3 different sets of part#s.

- B body Plymouth, LH/RH are same part#
- B body Dodge (except Charger), LH/RH are different part#s
- Charger, LH/RH are same part#
