I know this has been discussed before but most of the threads I have found are three or more years old. So anyway I pulled the dash out of my challenger this weekend and am looking to freshen it up and have a few questions. First is it ok to just sandblast it to remove the old paint or will this hurt the plastic(rubber) coated clips that hold the wiring harness on the back? Second what are you guys painting them with these days? Probably looking to get something I can spray with a gun as I'm afraid I'll get runs or unevenness with aerosol. Third does the whole thing get painted inside and out?
Thanks for any input.

you can sandblast the whole frame. to protect any areas of interest just duct tape over them.... rubberized wire looms, VIN plate, etc... that is what i was told to do by my blaster and it worked perfect in my case... i covered about an inch beyond the VIN tag and triple duct taped just to be safe and hand sanded that small area later.... let the blaster know to be careful... write a note in sharpie over the tape to remind...

i primed my whole dash inside and out and then used suede paint later and pained the visible parts... originally the inside of the frame was not painted or primed i believe.

i got my paint from Mike Mancini and painted it myself with 2-3 disposable Preval sprayers. came out great.

It depends on what shape your frame is in. Mine was in great shape. Not much of the frame is visible once the pad in in place. I just hand sanded the visible areas down to bare metal...primed and painted.
