For 400-430 horse the cam probably isnt too big, you wont need too much stall. Your stoc converter might even be fine, especially if youre planning to run street tires a higher stall might just make your tires spin easier. Generally it will make it quicker at the track but you have to have the traction or else it goes up in smoke, you know what I mean? When you jump on it from a stop does it feel like it kind of takes off slow and then really wakes up? You can get 400 hp with a stock cam, so like I said your cam cant be too big.
Now I need to pin those needles, got to feel that heat Hear my motor screamin while I'm tearin up the street

Best advise I can give you is call the different Conv companys and tell the about your set up and plans for the car. They can tell you which one will best suit your needs.

yea, exactly, i jump on it, it thinks about it, goes, then really takes off once the RPM builds. So I think i need a TC and the previous owner said it really needs one. So that said, which one should i get?

Yeahp sounds like a new converter will be in order. Where does it feel like it really comes on? Thats roughly where youre going to want it to stall, or more accurately where you will want it to "flash" to. Flash speed is a little different from stall speed and its the engine speed that the converter will let the engine will instantly jump to when you romp on it.
PTC, Coan, Turbo Action all are pretty reputable. Mancini racing would be a good place to check out for a good converter, they sell a couple of different brands. Try to stay away from the Mopar ones though, theyre pretty loose so theyre going to slip alot on the street.
From the sound of it youre looking for something in the 9.5-10.5 inch range. You'll probably want to call whatever company you buy from, give them your build info or a rough torque estimate and tell them where you want it to stall. Youre probably looking for something around 2800 or so from the sound of it. Like i said, where do you think it really starts to pick up and pull hard?
