Picked it up in Norristown Pa this weekend. Very nice inside. Needs a set of tires, and I want to replace the headlights. On the way home on the PA TP, I hit a pothole and something in the drivers seat broke. Now it has a lean to the right rear corner. I have talked to salvage yards, and was told that this is a common problem. It has a 4.7l, full leather interior, and rides very nice. I hope to have a master tech look at it this weekend to see what it might need for MD inspection. Still I have to get that seat fixed or replaced....Any thoughts???? Thanks...Curt

Depending on what broke you may be able to weld the part.

My seat back broke in my 2002 grand. I just took the cover off and welded it up. It's a pretty easy fix once you pull the seat and get in there.

Great vehicles and the 4.7 works well in that application.

Having it go through pre-inspection Saturday......Am getting new tires that morning. Am planning on new brakes and pads...Rock Auto says I need to know what caliper I have before ordering....Afew other thing I think will come up....Tie rod ends, exhaust leaks, etc. Guess I'm just stressing abit.....So far, other than afew gliches, it's been really nice to drive....After I get it through inspection, I'll get plates and then go after the small cosmetic problems.....

Great unit with 4.7
Window motors expire often cheapo aftermarkets are available
brakes pedal never really hard-no matter what you do or adjust--no real fix just part of the deal
Heat / Air door flaps fall off--get a tech from the jeep place to fix at his home is best bet--when air heat acts up thats the issue
rear gears whine and are a distraction but will roar/whine and run forever--junkyard units are the same so skip the fix until she quits
power steering hose leak is common
Oil pressure gauge will drop to zero--chime will come on, scare the heck out of you, just keep driving, oil gauge returns to normal--senders are bad and replacements are no better--when you hook manual to it you see there are no issues except the sender
seat heaters go bad fast--fix is on the web
You will LOVE that 4.7--lots of balls and 20 MPG easy as pie on our 2wd
We love our GC!!!!

Got the brake pads for the front and rear. Had to geet both types of front pads til I get it apart. I have rotors and new headlights coming from Rock Auto. Tires tomorrow. Your right, I am really starting to like this thing. Rides nice, runs well. Guess I am stressing getting this thing through inspection. I did notice the brake pedal being abit soft. No real issues, except the IAC code I can't get rid of. Will have the guy that is doing the pre inspection, take a look at that. Then cosmetics.....Any more advise or thing I need to know about, don't be shy.....Curt

OH YEA...When gas struts on rear hatch go bad only replace ONE--if you put two new ones you have to hang on the lid to shut it.
When you start it one morning and the idle goes high then hunts around take the torx screws out and remove idle air solenoid--it will be carboned up--just clean and clean the carbon pocket/ seat in the manifold she will idle like new.
Thermostat leak is common --use new stat from the dealership not a parts store version and take great care to bleed all air out after stat job--there is a 3/8ths pipe plug up top on water neck just for that purpose.
Blower on heat air often will not run--just giggle the harness connection on air box at passengers foot well

Just the bulb or the housing unit that's clouded up?

We cleaned the lens with a turtle wax lens repair kit...but also brought out the orbital polisher to help supplement the elbow grease...

turned out pretty decent...

Bought front pads from NAPA. Got both both sets listed for the front. I have ordered from Rock Auto, rotors, Front headlights. They should be here Wed, and Thurs., The new tires are on, but the tech told me that the Right outer tie rod is bad. I have that along with the adjustment sleeve. All this is being installed Sunday afternoon. Then we should be able to get it through inspection and plates.....Then I can start on the cosmetics.
