Unless you relocate the leaf springs your not going to gain anything by tubing it..

so if I relocate the leaf springs to the original chasis structure and reinforce it should work right?

How wide of tire are you wanting to go? The 71-74 B bodies already have a lot of room back there, especially if you relocate the leaf springs.

nothing to crazy but wide enough so I can get better traction and not have the tread sticking outside of the body,

consider mini-tubbing,and install a inboard spring mount in the frame, and that will be plenty of room.someone else here that has a done car should chime in to give exact measurements, but I would guess 12-14" width would be easy...just remember, big tires are very expensive,so add up costs before you cut,lol....mike...oh,i have 15x8+295-65-15's on mu 72 charger w/ no mods.

You can get a 11" maybe a 12" tire under that car w/o anykind of tubbing or spring relocation. How much power are you throwing down? It might be money better spent looking at upgrading your rear springs, and shock combo.

I did some measuring on mine and I can fit a 325/50/15 under the car with only a spring relocation. That would need a 10" rim with a custom backspacing and that tire measures 13.25" wide from bulge to bulge. I assume chargers have about the same space back there are their plymouth counterparts.

I run a 28X10.50 ET Drag slick on 10" wide 15" rims with 5" of backspacing with no modifications.

I am running 15 x 10 with a 5 inch backspace and 295/65/15 on my 74. I went with the offset shackles as stated above. You will have to weld new perches to the rear end housing and the rest is a bolt in deal.

I run 18x10 which makes for 12" of tire.

thanks for the replies.

Maybe I will have to take a better look at relocating the springs, I would like to do maybe a mini Tub but then i'd have to mess with the trunk mechanism and that looks complicated?!

So if I relocate the springs I would probably have to customize the rear end to fit?
