I have a 73 dart sport with a sunroof and I'm trying to figure out why it keeps slipping. I've taken it all apart and gave it a good cleaning and regreased every thing. I remember reading an old post about the block that the gear goes into can get worn from the cable so I put it in a vise and made it a little tighter which helped for a while but shortly started to skip and then my sunroof would bind up and not move. Any one have any good ideas.

How's the teeth on the gear? Sounds like they may be worn to the point they don't want to engage the cable at times. Make sure nothing is binding the sunroof as without the gear sunroof should move freely.
