Does anyone know where I can buy the oil plug that is installed in the oil passage beneath the main cap? I installed a 19/32 freeze plug, but it was slightly larger than the original (and quite hard to get to go in...). I'm worried that it's not pushed down far enough, and would prefer to install the correct part.

Go back to your local parts store with calipers in
hand and start measuring the plugs... they are not
all made equal... find one with a .002 to .0025 press fit
what is the press fit on what you have now

The Mopar part # is PN 3462871. Probably get one from Mancini. It needs to be pressed down 2 1/4" measured from the plug to the cap mating surface. Actually, the book gives you a install range of 2 1/8" to 2 5/16" from the bottom of the block.

I'm not quite sure how I would measure the opening where the plug sits (it is narrower than the opening where the main cap sits). Having said that, I measured the original plug and it is .565. The plug that I tried putting in is .593. Also, the furthest I could get it down was 1.831 inches. I'll see if I can't find a plug closer to the .565 size, so I can get it down far enough.

I measured the depth of the original plug before removal and it was sitting right around 2.125. I sourced that part # on Dorman's website and it says that it is a .563 plug. Strange that the new one would be .002 smaller than the used one. I assumed that the plugs would get smaller from being installed.

I would go and measure this one to see what it really is...
but you would never get the .595 one to fit

Napa had one that measured .569 and it fit perfectly. Makes me wonder if the .563 one mentioned earlier would even work. Thanks for the help guys!
