I am posting some pics of my project that I have been working on. Last year I bought back a 440 from a friend that I had built a couple years before. After looking my truck over, I just couldn't bring myself to put a nice clean engine into a greasy, nasty engine compartment. So here is the mess I have gotten myself into.... Sorry Larry, the wife had a few things for me to do. I should be able to come down mid week, my work schedule is light next week. I'll call ya.

Thanks Redraptor! I finally got some time this week to put the clutch, bell, and 4 speed on the engine. The weekend before I cleaned up the frame and got all that painted. It's not as nice as a lot of your guys trucks, but it's still in the works and I plan on driving it a lot. Here is a pic of some progress. [image] [/image] [image] [/image]

That is very nice. Clean and neatly done. My project may be a little rougher as I am filling in most of the holes in the firewall with sheet steel. My Ramcharger is destined for drag race only. Speaking of the brake booster, I cut the unit in half, reduced the diammeter by 80% and have welded the two halves together to make a mount for the two bolt aluminum master cylinder to the four bolt firewall. Manual brakes for me. I got the M/C from Dr. Diff along with the adjustable pushrod.

Update on the truck. I've been working on the bodywork over the winter. Straightened the fenders, put them in epoxy primer and high build primer, block sanded and repeat.... [image] [/image] [image] [/image] [image] [/image] Hood [image] [/image] tailgate

I've started on the bed but have decided to weld up the front gas hole. Now I'm taking it over to get the bed and the underside blasted. I am also welding up the seam at the taillight housings. We just got finished with C notching the frame and am waiting for my NEW mustang gas tank to fab up. Will have pics shortly on that. [image] [/image]

A few more pics after POR 15. [image] [/image] [image] [/image] [image] [/image] Mustang gas tank is next. I was a little premature with my paint cause I have to relocate that x member and weld in brackets to hold gas tank. OH well

Are you running a spacer for the front wheels? I had to have the rotor hub turned down for the wheels to fit. I still have to modify the dust caps to get the center caps on.
I finally tried those wheels on the front. Looks like I will be getting my rotors turned down too. What a PITA! I tried a 1/4" spacer, but the more I thought about it....just not a good idea. I'll have to look into a stubby dust cover also, I think I've seen them around.

I started on my mustang gas tank install, here's a couple pics. I went with the bigger '70 tank, 22 gallon I believe. I took out the existing X member here: [image] [/image] ..and flipped it over and welded it in the back. Now I have a built in mounting surface for the rear of the tank and I'll use some 1.5 or 2" L channel for the front. [image] [/image]

Great timing! Getting ready to do the same thing using a Stang tank on ours. Interested to see what issues, if any, you encounter.

So far so good. It may take another week to get back on it, just found out my floor is rotten in my camp trailer it's a 2004 and that's the reason I bought it, newer = no problems, right!?! Now I have to gut the whole front half....PITA!!!! Anyway I'll jump back on the tank and finish up with some pictures.

this is where I did not think about the fill tube... I luck out and barly got it back far enuff to clear the valance on the lower edge of the bed. I hacked out a sqaure spot and used a fill tube off a chebby stepside stuffed down in the tank neck, then used allmetal to bond it to the tank good. used my stock screw on cap. I have a 6" pipe bumper welded to the frame and have a piece of angle welded to it to hold the tank.. cant move back any more.. but if I had test fitted the bed before I mounted the tank I could have moved forward and come up thru the floor. I will be watching how you do yours. I have plans to add one to my 440 truck to ditch the 10 gallon cell feeding a 440. this is the only part of the project I did not read/see how it was done. so I winged it and it shows. your project is looking real good so far, nice.

BigEdsGarage... Yes they are.
Thanks Scratch, I did some looking around how you guys did yours and muddled my way through it. I am by no means a welder but was able to do this much. Once I get the bed on, I will take some more pics on my filler hose hookup.

Took a little hiatis from the truck being so busy with work, but I'm back on track now. Most of the truck just got painted this week. Can't wait to get it back and put interior back in and drive it. It's been 4 years! [img:left] [/img] [img:right] [/img] [img:left] [/img] [img:right] [/img]

I got a few more pictures sent to me from the painter. We graphed on a '70 Roadrunner bulge hood onto my '80 truck hood and Scott did a carbon fiber inlay. He hasn't wet sanded or buffed yet, its looking pretty sharp tho...I'm exited! [img:left] [/img] [img:right] [/img] [img:left] [/img]
