My 4-speed has something like a 1.7:1 Third gear. That's a big drop. I've been looking for a closer ratio transmission. It turns out there were several NP435 variants, the best-=looking one to me is the NP435GA, something like a 1.31:1 Third. Has anyone seen one of these? They could be found behind those ugly GMC V6s of the '60s. R.

My understanding is that the 445 was used in the later 70s trucks..
I am truckless..

I ordered a new '76 W100 with the 445. But I don't remember it having a synchro first gear. I really liked the trans, but hated the full time 4wd, and didn't keep the truck very long, and sold it to a friend, who wore the truck out.
It takes gasoline to interest me.
