My friend is mocking up a new motor. He now has it adjusted so none of the valves will hit the pistons. He then degreeing his intake centerline came up to 95. What he wants know is how would this motor run or should he just fly cut the pistons so the vavles won't hit???

Thanks Troy B

440 engine .30 over roller cam pretty sure lift is 678 . I know by seeing down the spark plug hole there is quite a overlap. 850 holley, old aluminum indy single plane, 516 heads made into maxwedge heads and ported.

Are you saying that he adjusted the centerline away from ideal to get enough p/v clearance? (~.100").If so especially since he is in the mockup stage I would have them cut rather than leaving power on the table. You want that short block spot on then you can upgrade further on down the line(good heads) as $$$ permits without haveing to pull(or go back into) the short block.

More information on the setup would be nice, but it sounds like the pistons will need to be cut, or use a smaller cam?
