Are the repop E-Body rally tachs any better then the originals as far a tach acuracy and speed? The original one seems realy slow to react to the engine rpms. Any way to convert the orignal to new guts with lighter needle?

I have done the RT-Eng electronic on the back of mine and didn't see an improvement other then a little more accuracy.

I researched buying a repop tach for my R/T Challenger and found good reviews on their function.

I bought one off E-bay back in February.

After looking at the tach when it arrived I discovered the face was made incorrectly as there is a 500 rpm line on the new one unlike the factory one.
The pic in the Ebay ad showed a correct factory tach face.

I contacted the ebay seller (who is a well trusted vendor here) and after a series of email pics showed him the error.

He contacted the vendor and discovered their mosr recent batch of tachs were made incorrectly and they wouldn't be making the correct face until all the incorrect ones were all sold.

The Ebay seller immediately send me a shipping tag to returnt the tach and refunded my money.

I've been waiting ever since for the correct tach to be made.

Be careful as some vendors are advertising them with pics of the correct original tach face but are selling the incorrect one...

Here's a pic of the one I bought off ebay, notice the line for 500 rpms, the factory one does not have this.

i have 2 70-71 rally clusters that have been on the shelf for over 15 years that look exactly like the one in the pic.

Mr T2U - look closely at the 0 to 1 on your tac as well as the NOS one I put up and then look at the repop - big difference !!!

OK MY BAD.
i was looking at the 500 marks you posted about. didn't notice the space difference between the 0 and 1 until you posted about that.

Don't feel bad, it took me 3 emails and 4 pictures to the E-bay seller before he figured it out.

Here's the original tach in my 71 R/T Challenger.

It's a shame as the tach works good but is about 700-800 rpms too high.

The original Mopar OE tach will not calibrate properly with an electronic ignition..
It will read some RPM but will be off by a great deal..

Just my $0.02...
