Hi guy's, Does anyone know where I can get a vacuum advance for a 69 stock 383 distributor at? I don't need NOS just reproduction would be fine. Everywhere I have looked I have come up empty. Someone must have cornered the market on these big block advances or owns the rights to all of them and are not producing them or releasing them to parts stores. Small block vacuum advances is all I can find. Thanks! Dave,

I just bought one from Carquest, made by Wells, they had a 9 and a 10 available. Took a couple of days to get here. $38 or so.

I never tried Carquest, but I did look on their website and didn't find one. Did it work for you? Is it for a 69 383? A 9 would be awesome, just what I need! What part number would this be? Thanks,

Dave,I doubt you'll ever find a dual point at an auto parts store, last one I bought was 12 years go,back then the major re builder had three left,I took all of them, haven't seen another one since.

The one at the very top is the style for a single point , the others are presotlite style.

Wasn't planning on going with a dual point though it would be nice for I have never had a car with dual points. I plan on sticking with the pertronix for the year then maybe next year putting in the pertronix 2. I checked out Carquest for a vacuum advance and it is the same one that Classic Industries sent me made be Wells. So still no luck with the advance. I really would like tofind a matching numbers distributor for my car. Part number is 2875750 for a 69 superbee 383 4 barrel with manual trans. I did finally find on Ebay yesterday a Filco someone was selling. A replacement for my 750 dist. but I only have a 747 which is for a 383 2 barrel man. Which is what I got with the car 15 years ago. He wanted $46.00 for it and that is a little pricey when I can get a reman. for the same price. So if anyone has this dist. sitting around and doesn't need it anymore please let me know! Thanks, Dave.

I can tell by the way the tang nounts onto the plate. With a hole or with the pin on the tang.

What is wrong with your current advance ?

I think I posted in another thread , a stock 750 advance is 10.5 or 11 on the arm , I have to check , I recently bought an NOS one for my 750 distributor. Also note the mechanical advance in a stock 750 is something like 31 degrees , I actually changed it on on the one I have to one that is less.

The 383- 2 bbl might actually be a better performing unit

The advance I have on the distributor right now is what came with the reman. 4 years ago but I kept my 747 dist. housing that came with the car. And I have welded up the slots to give me 22-23 degrees of mech. and with my 16-17 initial I'm at 38-39 mech. I have now decided to use this for my pertronix setup and the advance is not holding vacuum and it is only about a 7 and I need a 9 so I can get the advance at cruising speeds somwewhere around 56-57 like I had with the Mopar elect. ignition before. It does run a few degrees cooler. Thanks,

How can I see a picture of this? I don't surf Tony's website enough, I guess I will just have to send him an email. Thanks,

What is wrong with the vac can on the electronic distributor ? It will swap into the other distributor, you can also swap parts back and forth, I turned an MP electronic into a points distributor .

John, The electronic dist. has a slightly different plate than the stock the advance. The hole for the advance is more angled in towards the centered than the stock. I really have not tore it all apart and just started switching parts. It just looked like it won't fit. I quess I will just start doing it and see where it takes me. Since i love working on distributors.!

I never noticed that, it seemed to fit though. I put the points cam and points plate into the electronic, and then installed the pertronics on it . I did it because the electronic unit was new, the points unit was very used ...

Now I'm wondering if I swapped the vac can too ?

Is your electronic the old style with the slots or the new style with adjustable mechanical advance ?

I'm trying to put the elect. plate in my points dist. to be able to use the elect. vacuum advance! But that won't work! The elect. plate even if it did work doesn't have the tapped holes for switching back to points if say, the pertronix was to die on me on the road.
