Will the hood close once I install my 528 hemi in the engine bay with the R/T hood it came with. If so will I need to get a special carb base plate to lower the air filter? The challenger came with a 383. I changed out the k-member to a hemi k-member.

Thanks

What intake? Hemi's came stock in Challengers with the twin scoop hood so unless you've got a taller intake it should be fine..

Just install hemi in car. Looks really really really close. What baseplate do I use. The plate I need has to have a drop if not will not close.

Thanks

My 528 fits fine but I'm using the factory 2 4bbl intake and factory 69 440 fresh air air cleaner modified to fit the 2 4bbl eddy carbs. I can't say if you are running the big Barton style single plane intake that they use on some of the crate 528 hemi's that thing looks pretty tall.

I have the Barton inline 2x4 intake with 1/2 shaved from the carb mount pad. Mine is in a Barracuda tho so clearance will be different. I have Schumacher mounts which raise engine 3/8 to 1/2 inch over stock. You don't have that issue since you used Hemi k-frame. I have the drop base bottom from FHO. All put together it was very, very close. I use little cigarette-size spikes made of modeling clay to check clearance at front, rear, each side and anywhere a piece of framing gets close. I have about 1/2 inch at the closest. Good thing the mounts won't let the engine move.
