running mega mopar at gateway this weekend.very sad.they are paying twice what mmw is and only have 4 gen 3 hemiss,18 swap space vendors, about the same on manufactor midway.even the cheap tiwan tool guy isnt there.mopars against world will be run on sunday instead of reg sat nite program.not many s/p,pro or sportsman cars.appears biggest class may be trophy w/20 cars.appears bout 100 cars maybe total.talk to some locals and a lot not going to indy due to reduced payout.what is going on this year?fuel costs, lack of interest?what do others attribute this too?

Uncertain economy.

The Dakota club has a National Event scheduled for next month. People who have already paid for the event are cancelling at unprecedented rates simply because they lost their jobs between signing up and now. Not good. Sign of the times.

I also think it was poor timing with a MoPower event in Columbus, a show in Chicago, and a race in Memphis with a bunch of NSS cars.

Most of the people I talked to today said they were not even aware there was an event at Gateway until the last minute.

...and of course there are the ones that simply boycotted due to the Josh King situation.

I could only attend for 4.5 hours today
(and this weekend in general), but felt a need to support my local track by entering a car.

just back from gmp and mega mopar-there was a lot of questions from owner and other mgmt about why low turn out and after all was said and done they still pais the advertised payouts except in mopar vs the world.in this, 3k based on 64 cars.was also bad that the buy back in s/p and pro was $60.00.they even let gfen 3 hemi losers buy back for $40.00 and was only 4 total in class.throphy was allowed to buy back for $20.00.but at least they did pay advertised and did not prorate.maybe next year will be better attended.

Some people chose to stay away and boycott the event due to it not being Monster Mopar.
Only Josh and Gateway know all the truth behind whatever happened there.
Everyone sees things from their own perspective.

Kinda like the saying "There are three versions of the truth, yours, mine and the real truth"

For the turnout there was some good racing that went on.

They paid out all the payouts advertised even with the low car count.

No doubt, Monster Mopar has been a better event with more cars attending.

Would it have had a better turnout if it was a Monster Mopar event? Probably.

Could Mega Mopar have been better? Obviously yes.
Better turnout would have made it better.

Is it the tracks fault that it was a low car count?
That depends on how you look at it.
They have no control over anyone boycotting the event.
The only way that they can control to get more cars there is advertise the event more.
I never heard of much in the way of advertising for the event.
Just saw some stuff on Facebook.
If people don't show up what can they do about it?

I can understand if it was a long (expensive) trip to attend with a car and some chooses not to go, money is tight for most people.

If you were local to the show and didn't take a car you were part of the reason that there was a low car count.

Just saying, don't complain if you helped contribute to the low car count by not taking a car.

I know of some guys that drove their import and just spectated and left the cool car at home.

Kayse can't keep up at all now. lol
