The good is that I went slightly faster and nothing broke(I know quicktree`s waitin 4 the 8 3/4 to spill it`s guts )and Deep Pockets was kind enuff to show up and install his go-pro camera under the rear of my car to see what`s happening and educate me on a proper burn out. I did really appreciate that....thank you. The bad is that it doesn`t 60 ft. worth a damn and still not sure what`s up but starting to think a real slick may be needed. And the ugly is these wonderfully maintained freeways around here tested my not so strong shock brackets I just made so as we unloaded my car, the shocks were just hanging there in the wind so I`ll fix that tomorrow. I got four passes in and made a change after each and found my sweet spot to be 12 lbs. tire pressure and the c-tracts in the bottom w/a small 1/8th air gap. Can`t blame the track this time cos dudes were flyin so any how heres my best pass.....time to crash. 1.423 60 ft. 4.004 330 6.204 1/8 111.17 mph so maybe there`s some truth to me gioin 111.89 from spinning............... Off to bed............

Good to see you went and had some fun! The first thing that I thought of was how old are your tires? The second thing on my mind is maybe, just maybe the tires need to "hit" real hard to get some weight transfer? Not sure on that part, just wondering. My car won't hook well without it, and I have 15.1 x 34.6 inches of GoodYear drag slicks under it. All in all I see it as a good outing. The weather couldn't have been as good as it is in winter, and without a decent 60 ft, both (some) MPH and ET go away. You are getting there!!

Thankxxx guys............... My tires are about 14 months old but only have maybe 10 passes on em but that may not really mean anything and the radial thing looks tempting sometimes but all I usually hear is that they`re "hit-n-miss". We tried the hard hit you mentioned Greg and it didn`t like it this time.........upper hole just touching shocks on 5 went 1.54 60 and a 6.34 @ 111.15 and I figured it was the boot but the ticket guy said 6.25 was the cut off and I wasn`t gong to argue. Done till Oct. for the Mopar race at Fomoso so now I can TRY and figure this thing out and I still think a 1.34 60 and a 6.15 @ 113 is doable but, I may never know at this rate...........

And mine feels weak................never had these problems before and all my changes were supposed to HELP not hurt..........
And this is a big reason I don't really pay attention to dyno horsepower numbers. Anybody can tune for the BIG number but it doesn't always pan out on the race track. Same with porting heads. The big number in most cases means nothing if your flowing 330 at 700 lift and your running a 600 lift cam. port volume, air speed, short side radius, valve angles, valve size, and a few other details dictates your power band. Personally give me a head that has some nice cfm numbers from 350-600 and i will plan my build around that with some pretty nice results.
The improvements you did during your rebuild may just need a simple tweak with were the cam was installed, possibly a new cam profile, a different shift point, or different stall converter. Fun game we play isn't it. Especially when you can't get to the track on a regular basis for testing. We put 5 more runs on Matts Duster last night at PRP's test n tune night.
1970 Duster Edelbrock headed 408 5.984@112.52 422 Indy headed small block 5.982@112.56 mph 9.42@138.27
