Well, the 318/904 combo works pretty damn good... 3000 stall, shifts hard, lays rubber nicely, very responsive. Just time to go manual, I think I'd enjoy it even more. I always dream about rowin' my own gears! So I rebuilt an A-body 4 speed, got a Hurst Comp plus shifter, new shift rods and clutch linkage from Brewers, bought this Ram Clutches 3 finger clutch and billet steel flywheel a while ago, have to paint and install my pedal assembly. Got the rest of the parts I needed at the Spring Fling this weekend which persuaded me to go ahead with the swap...After hearing a guys 69 Dart with a mechanical cam and 4 speed, made me say, "yep, I want a 4 speed!" I have TTI headers, so I bought their Z-bar to go with it, since I didn't have one anyway. Any hints, tips, tricks, thoughts are welcome as I've never done this before. :happy8: I'll be posting updates of the progress. Not gonna start the swap until after June 2nd, I wanna take it to Mopar Rally first. I don't think I could finish before then. lol

Looking good so far I'm using that same disc this year with my new street conversion.I am pulling the race 5-speed out and putting a nice 18 spline street 4-speed in the Savoy with a soft and easy clutch. No more severe shudder from the six puck bronze disc just backing into a spot at the local cruise-in.Still not sure if I will take the spool out of the rear yet Gus

Some parts arrived today, so I assembled the pedals. Got em all painted. Here's the roller bearing/bushing kit: The HD spring dwarfs the standard over center spring! Pressing the roller bearings into the pedal shaft: Gettin lubed up: Thought I would never get the spring on, thanks to Ranidart70, she gave me an idea! all done

Hope that you have strong legs. That RAM clutch I see is a firm one. I tried driving another Duster that had that one. It wasn't easy. It never slipped though!
Our Dart has a RAM clutch and I agree, you need a strong left leg to drive it. But I drove it to Woodward and back (2 hours each way) in heavy traffic last year, so if I can do it...
The only thing I can think to add is the carpet. You may get lucky like we did and manage to stretch the old carpet over the hump. Otherwise you may need a new one. Good luck!

Have you checked your crankshaft to see if it's drilled for the pilot bushing? You'll also want to make sure it's drilled to the correct size if it is drilled, as they drilled an unfinished pilot hole in some of the automatic cranks but didn't do the final finishing for the hole since it was going into an automatic - it's almost the right size, but just a little too small for the bushing to fit. I've heard there's an undersized OD pilot bushing that can be used in those smaller unfinished holes (I believe it was NAPA that had them), or you can use a later roller bearing in place of the bushing.

Well, it's in and done, as far as the installation goes. I changed out the slip yoke and installed new solid U-joints. With the clutch engaged, I have about a 1/16" to an 1/8" from the clutch disc to the flywheel, about about an 1/8" to 3/16" from the throwout bearing to the 3 clutch fingers when the clutch isn't engaged. This pic is probably worthless. The clutch linkage and Z-bar all work together very nicely. Not too harsh of a pedal feel at all. The TTI Z-bar clears the TTI headers, no mods had to be made, it all went together. Now I just have to test it! I gotta finish up a few things and I'll let yall know how everything works.
