I ran into a fellow..(friend of a friend) who runs 4.500 cranks in a pulling tractor.he has a engine maintenance program that is really decent.he pulls the engines[3] and cks them all out,and finds cracks in cranks, and all cranks are Bryant,or similar quality...he is selling them cheap, and claim many friends and his son run these in cars for street/strip with great results,no failures. he is running full tilt blown aluminum engines,so stress is high for him. I thought about trying one for my junk. he also says he had to grind little if any on a std 440 block...???... they have mopar pins for rods too....so whats your thoughts???? worth the risk? they are 4500.00 cranks for 200.00 or less....he has 15 or so avalible....thoughts???? thanks ,mike

They most likley have 8 bolts for the flex plate also.
I used a bryant 4.5 stroke crank with the cracks for many years untill a blower hub failure messes up the snout

HEMI-ITIS has no cure.
My condition is fully BLOWN!!

Lots of people run them the stress fractures are not a huge concern at 650 to 850 hp you will have to have a torque converter register installed on the back of the crank and grind the bottoms of cylinders a bit to clear the rods and some off the oil pick up boss 99.999% sure you will have to go external oiling.
The flange may be .100 thicker so may require spacing the tranny back .100 as well.

It may be possible to clean up the cracks with an offset grind to 4.650? That would be a 2.200 chev journal, and will fit in the stock block for a very large stroker. I mentioned in other posts that center counter weighted cranks are more forgiving for stock blocks, putting less stress on the blocks because the center weights distribute the loads more evenly. I ran a welded stroker for quite some time years ago at 650 hp in a stock block, 4.5 stroke with some serious cracks in it before it finally let go. Do you have info on what machine work it will take to make it usable?
