My engine is a 512 low deck with Stealth heads, cam is a Lunati xxx703 hydraulic with lobe lift 342, lift with 1.6 will be 547. Engine is mainly for street use, with the occasional strip visit just for fun.

Anybody having experience with the Hughes alu 1.6 roller rockers? All ok with Stealth heads?

And the stud kit with hold downs:

And what about the Cr-Mo pushrods that I am supposed to cut to the proper lenght? All ok to use these as well?

How do you BTW cut these pushrods at home with just using simple home style tools?

For the pushrods, I would get an adjustable checking one, set it up, measure it, and order custom length pre-made ones. The cut to fit ones should be cut with a lathe, but I have used a hack saw cutting them slightly longer, and then grinding them to length. Not the best method, but it worked at the time. The pushrods I had also needed to be drilled for the tips to press in.

Had a 512 400 project for a client, it threw pushrods untill we changed from 1,6 to 1,5 rockers. Too little clearance between pr and portwall. The stealths were cnc'ed and he did not want more grinding on them....
1,5 rockers solved the problem. pr's were 3/8".

Thanks, interesting info. I've already been grinding the upper pushrod holes to allow for increased clearance. On std Stealth there seemed to be a bit of meat there so no problem to make room I think. So you think with the proper clearance the 1.6 rockers would be ok?

If clearanced correctly for the 1.6 rockers, and pushrod lengths are RIGHT, you'll be just fine. They are a nice little rocker for the money...

I run the Hughes offset "Victor" 1.6 Intake Rockers on my Chapman Max Wedge 517. I'm very happy with them.

I think....If you need more port wall clearence for your pushrods not to scrub, get you some more port wall clearence!

Thank you folks for your feedback.
I've contacted Hughes and expect to place a nice little order with them ASAP.

I use the Hughes 1.6 roller rockers and their holdown hardware kit. Both have worked great for me. Been in this eng since June 2011 and have been holding up fine. I have only adjusted the valves twice and both times almost all were on the money. Guess its time for my once a year valve adjustment this year. For pushrods I went with Manton and they gave me great service and a very good pushrod. Ron

Yes, you see, this all good, but there is significant benefit if I can order all in one go. Seems that Summit has a minimum shipping cost of approx $100, so $150 pushrods + $100 shipping multiplied by approx 5% Duty and 25% VAT + postal fee adds up to (150+100)*1.05*1.25= $328 (plus another $15 in postal fee...)...for the pushrods only...

If you want to PM me your shipping info I can figure out how much it would cost to actually ship them to you, hopefully it would be a lot less .

Thanks John for the kind offer, but USPS has a nice website where I can easily check rates. It seems difficult to get under $50 for a reasonably fast shipment, with all charges it means over here minimum $50*1.05*1.25= $66.
Yes, we pay value added tax also on the import tax, i.e. paying tax on tax!!! Very innovative don't you think?

The Hughes delivery will cost me $125 (rockers, pushrods, hold down kit, oil pickup), i.e. total shipping cost parts at home $164. Currently unclear what type of USPS shipping they have in mind, if it's the 3-4 weeks delivery I will have to pay more to get the parts here in approx. 1 week...

Try to use the USPS Priority Flat Rate boxes if possible; weight isn't usually an issue like it is with USPS First Class.
