Is there a problem with putting the external oil lines in the very bottom of the oil pan? This is a 4x4 pull truck so it is protected but will it create a tornado effect like a toilet having them in the floor of the pan?
Thanks

They will be above the front axle Mike so I think they will be safe. Trying to stay away from the turbos.

You should be fine putting them in the bottom

it's called a vortex and yes it will happen to some extent it's a matter of flow rate how much idk. if it's an issue you can put a vortex breaker across the opening which would be just a small strip of metal. i would be careful about the pump suction(s) air doesn't do much for the bearings. this pic shows a cross though it seems to me i remember seeing vessel outlets that only had a bar.

Thanks for the proper terminology Jim. We will be using 2 lines and thought that in it self would disturb any vortex action, but your picture would be easy enough to do.

Just throwing this out there, but if something comes loose in the engine and it goes down thru holes and the lines, looks like it could lock the pump up before you realized it. At least with some type of screen in there that would prevent it. I would think you want something in there to filter it, if not something like a screen.

i would not run any pump oil, fuel or otherwise without something to catch scrap before it enters the pump.

the pump.... to me thats a MUST HAVE

If the engine is not blown up where would the pieces come from? All you are saving is the oil pump and restricting oil to it because a filter is on the other side anyway.
It's over so fast you don't stand a chance.
