Used to get my steel shim head gaskets at my local MP dealership. They have since gone out of business, so I'm wondering where to get them on line. I remember them as not being very expensive, but I seem to recall someone saying that they have increased tremendously in the past few years. Any suggestions?

The M.P. brand steel shim gaskets are outrageous in price, but you can get the same basic gaskets from Mancini as their house brand pretty reasonable.

I was thinking that someone said that the expensive one is a multilayed gasket like Cometics are

Not lookin to get anyone, just saying JohnRR is on it.. Fact is I'd just bought a set a month ago so I knew they carried both sets.. The $20 set is a good deal, the $160 set is nuts.. And I don't see anything in the ad saying they are MLS..

I know guys who have had sealing issues with the Mancini steel shims.

For $10 dollars less it seems like a no brainer to stick with the genuine Mopar gaskets from Summit.

Those are NOT the Mancini gaskets. They are Superformance gaskets. The correct part number is SFP-5983
They seal just fine, I use them myself

I noticed your gaskets. Says 0.022" thick. Are they coated/plated? Are the "other" shim gaskets actually 0.020", as years ago, they actually measured 0.018".

Just curious.

The P515 series gaskets are not even steel shim gaskets....they are MLS hence the high price.
I have covered that before but will repeat as many times as folks need: If you want the steel shim spec, do not order the P515-series part numbers.

The old P4286754 are much lower priced, they are now made of stainless instead of mild steel which is a nice upgrade, but availability appears to be poor at the moment from everything I can gather. They appear to be on backorder right now with no ETA listed as of yet.

If someone wants the old spec mild steel like what direct connection sold in the '70s, order OEM gasket number 3614824. There are a few dealers that still have it. It will be the silver painted mild steel most of us are accustomed to.

Very similar to the old DC #3614824 that Zippy was referring to @ .022" thick
