I'm trying to find out who makes the air controlled throttle stop cylinder on my race car, it has "Hardcore racing product" decal on it but I haven't found anything on line that looks like this one. I need to buy the ball stud fitting that goes on the carb. linkage for this to hook to, I hope the picture works well enough for someone who knows the company that makes this and the contact information on them to help me find out who to buy the parts for it from

When I read Hardcore racing his name came to mind. I don't get National Dragster any more but I think he had a big ad in the back. Last time I read one the whole thing was one big ad. To bad as I used to really enjoy reading it. I finally climbed in my attic and started selling off parts that have been collecting dust for years and I found one of those air systems that came on one of my cars.

I just looked at Summit site and it looks exactly like a Shiftnoid controller I'm going to try taking the cylinder into town tomorrow and see if one of the local hydraulic shops may have that ball stud I need I'll bet money on Billy Mitchell did sell them at one time with his Hardcore racing decal on them Thanks for the help

The air throttle control is illegal in Pro. Shifter I would definitely use, takes one variable out.

Thanks for reminding me, this car is way faster than I thought it would be so I may not be able to run it in Pro I may end up having to run it in Super Pro, basically quitting driving and becoming a electronic box controller programmer again

Its not as easy as it sounds but if you find yourself winning to much money I could sure help you spend some of it.

Illegal in which sanctioning body, NHRA or IHRA?? I looked in my Ihra book and can't find anything about it. I don't have an NHRA book. I was planing on putting the one off my old car on my 'new' car this week.

A electronically control throttle stop is not allowed in NHRA Pro class or any of the other sportsman classes except the Super classes like Super gas, Super Comp and Super Street. A mechanical throttle stop that is preset before the run are allowed, at least I think they still are

Will not be used as a throttle stop, used to apply throttle.. Will not be electronically contolled, unless they call a 12 volt solenoid an 'electronic'. I was always under the impression that electronically was referring to timers/delays/boxes/etc.

Cab, Whatever you do with that I suggest you keep the shaft well oiled with teflon or wd40 spray as they can change there operation quickly if not used for a race or two and effect car / ET.

Cab,FWIW In my opinion those inline stops are not the best. most consistent way to doing what you want. If you want to stay in pro I suggest using one of the many under carb stop out there such as Dedenbear sale, or the EZ plate system. They both work very well. If you want to go run Super Pro get an under carb stop. They are much more consistent in thier operatin and you have more control over closing and more importantly closing rate.

That inline style stop is best used as a starting line enhancer for full tree bracket racing than it is as a throttle stop. Just my from experience.

I know the car you bought somewhat. Would make a great S/ST with the proper set up in it.

Me no Habla,Nix Verstien, I'm not sure what your trying to say Whats up BTW, I did find a ball stud at one of the local Knecht auto parts stores last week, I should have posted that, sorry for not doing it I did have to grind the stem down a little to make it work, I bought three of them so I can put the other two on different carbs to test on the car later,(you know how it goes when your in a hurry trying to swap carbs at the races, I will loose the nut or washers when I'm in a hurry between rounds ) if I don't sell it first Thanks to all on the help I got the tach hook up and working and I study the delay box instructions a liitle, maybe I'll try using it later this month. I'm taking it out this Saturday but NOT on Mothers Day, I like living with me wife the way she is

I am wanting to get my car to GO cleanly/consistently, and you are wanting to WHOA your car...different uses for same item. I used this set-up before and it worked fine. Trans brake and solenoid for air throttle controlled by the same button. You get the benefit of the accelerator pump shots, which are eliminated with a 2 step system. This time, I would not be using a delay box though.
The whole idea, is an attempt at better, more consistent reaction times.

Chapper is referring to using the cylinder as a starting line enhancer not as a stop. Although generally that is done through a delay box as most newer ones have that control integrated in them these days. Not sure how the rules look at starting line enhancers hooked up in conjunction to a T brake in Pro??? I coudl see where some may question that set up in pro.

I am thinking that if they don't question the trans brake in Pro, they should not question the throttle control. The adjustable buttons that are available for the trans brake are DEADLY!! I have been foot braking in my local class that doesn't allow delay 'boxes'.They call it Modified, but is the same as most Pro classes. Last time out, my first round opponent had a .001 light with his trans brake and 2 step. SO,,,,I bought back in,,my opponent that round had a .002 light...I loaded up. I do have a brake in my transmission, but haven't been using it. I believe it's time to get a little more serious.
