Hi all,
does anyone know the actual lengths of the steer shafts for a 71 B body - Satellite - pwwr steering car.

I have 2 - one @ 42" & one @ 40.5", I assumed the 40.5" was for power steering & installed that one in the column but its too short. 72 RRGTX mentioned maybe my shaft was collapsed a bit & I cant find actual measurements on the web anywhere so if anyone has that data its appreciated.

somebody's gotta know......do the parts books show length measurements, it doesn't in the FSM.

According to the 1970/1971 factory parts book, The power steering shaft for a 1970 B body is 44.88" and the manual steering shaft is 41.76". They do not list the measurements for the 1971 shaft.

thanks for that info obviously its kind of hard to come up with.

I swapped out the steer shafts & the original one fits, I'm not sure if the 40.5" one is actually collapsed or is for a different car or what, it came out of a B body column so who knows!

So the answer to What is the steer shaft length for a 71 B body Satellite/RR/GTX power steering car is 42".
