Well I make so many posts here about what will work for my car, I guess I should show it off a little and tell its story.

It started in 1996 when I was 14 years old. I always had a strong love for Mopar muscle cars since I was a little kid and would drool over the cars for sale in the Auto Trader and Trading Times (I'm sorry to the people of Minnesota for a younger me calling about cars). After years of looking with my father at hacked wrecks we finally found the car my dad approved on (because a nice interior was important to him) to spend my life savings on ($3,000). It was this 1971 Dodge Superbee. It was what appeared to be a original paint Citron Yella, tattered black vinyl top, black faded stripes, mint black interior. The motivation is a 383 (not original), auto (matching #), 3:55 open 8 3/4 rear. The has options like buckets, console, tach, tuff wheel, A/C, turn indicators, power brakes, power steering. I bought the car from a college kid up in Grand Marais who brought it up from Arizona. I think the car was originally from the California area as it has alot of options but does not have exhaust tips. Well we got the car home and started tearing it down to get media blasted. It was a great project for us both and since the car came from a dry climate we didn't have any issues tearing it down. Well my father made a deal to one of my cousins to do the body work as he was working for a high end shop at the time. My father kept wanting me to change the color to bright red but I wanted the original color no matter what. Well fast forward 14 YEARS, way over the original price agreeded on, one 1/4 panel that should of not been replaced, and 14 years of uneasiness between the family, the car was painted.

Here is a picture of it in the booth

Well when I got the car back I immediatly started tearing into it. I decided to make it a super nice driver that I could drive in spring, summer, fall, rain or shine. I decided to pull everything on the underside and get everything powder coated. After a bad experience with the first powder coater I finally found a great powder coater named Larry from JIT Coatings in Farmington MN (peabodyracing is his handle here). I am amazed at the work and very happy. Evey piece under my car is coated. While I was working on the rear end I added a rear sway bar from a Cordoba under there and added a clutch Sure-grip in the pig. Here are pics of the
rear:

I had the frame brackets for the rear sway bar made by a fab shop and powder coated

While the underside was stripped I fully reundercoated the car (it was already fully undercoated from the factory). I had the matching # trans rebuilt by Darrins Automotive in Big Lake MN who I would say is the best place in MN to get a 727 rebuilt. The transmission looked like a piece of jewelery as he fully detailed the case and hardware. I also sent the driveshaft, yoke, trans trans mount, front suspension fully done in powder coat.

I have bought many parts from Moparts members such as my torsion bars, rear sway bar pates, etc etc. I want to thank everyone for trouble free transactions and very quality parts. I have the the all new front end already installed with everything powder coated. I bought all my front end pieces from Rockauto (saved almost $100.00) and all the bushings are Prothane and I can't wait to see how it drives. The car was originally front drums but I had a complete disc set up from a 74 Cuda up in my attac. Here are some pictures:

I also got the engine in and this is the point I am at. We just installed Polylock motor mounts and the engine is in. I am putting the A/C back in, adding a power steering cooler, factory cruise control, inside hood release.

I am also adding power windows, cruise control, rear defrost, passenger mirror. I am running for wheels the alloy slots that have been on the car since it was near new. Also when I was tearing the car apart I found the hijacker bunny sticker on the rear end that had been there for a million years. I decided to put it back on. I will update more as it goes on....

Thanks for reading

Here are some more pics

Also I bought new brake lines from Fine Lines with a new proportioning valve for disc brakes. They were spot on and look great. I also had my original booster rebuilt by Dewey's boosters and it looks like piece of jewelry. For my first resto I'm really happy how its turning out

Thanks again Moparts members for the help and let me know what you think.

I agree, it looks great. Always loved '71 Bees. I am probably in the minority, but '71 is my favorite Super Bee.

Neat Super Bee!! I just picked up a GY3 Bee myself to restore. My brother's first car was a 383 GY3 Super Bee, a/c, auto, with slotted mags on it. The car was from Ca. and he bought it in Scottsdale, Az. in 1975. we always wondered what happened to the car. Can you p.m. me the v.i.n. I'm sure if it's the car he would love to talk to you.
Thanks,
Chris

Garret great to see pictures finally. Glad you're happy with the powder coating. We'll be here when you're ready for more. Keep up the great work on putting it back together!

PM SENT!!!!! I'm on the edge of my seat and hope its his old car! If it is I would love to talk to him as the owner I bought it from has no interest in talking to me about its past. Its from the area you say.

You're doing a great job on it. As soon as I saw the Hijacker sticker, I thought 'There's gotta be a story!' LOL Are you putting the black vinyl top back on? I've got a 71 GY3 Challenger with a black vinyl roof, and it looks nice.

Yes the vinyl top is going back on.

I've been slacking lately because......well life has been getting in the way (volunteering, work, getting backgrounded, looking for a new daily driver, etc etc). Well I detailed the steering gear and installed the new pitman arm (I got it from Rick Erinberg and it worked perfect). So now the front is all buttoned up and now I'm moving onto the engine bay when I get a free night lol

Looks good. I have a soft spot for 71 bees...my first mopar, and I have had a few (2 B5, 2 hemi orange and a butterscotch). If you are in a total bind for that regulator, let me know, I could pull one out of a door, but shipping from here might be killer.
