Doubt if they clip technology back then. Is there a center cap that you can pop off? or maybe an allen screw under and down the long side of the handle? If you examine your handle that came off, you might gain some cues on how it was held on. It has to be pretty low tech and crude.

They are held on with these clips that fit inside the handle. You have to push one side in to release the tension. There's a special tool for that, but I've managed it with a blade type screwdriver.

Yes they have clips.I made an old screwdriver into a tool to release them.I rounded it off and gave it a slight bend so not to rip the panel.Took the handles off my 57 and my kids 62 with it.You have to get them just right to release them. The actual tools come up on Ebay at times. It is pricey though.Rocky
