depends on the desired application. there "may" be minor piston to head issues that could come into play. piston manufactures should really give up on the CR listing as it doesn't do any good. the +/- dome volume it the spec to be used. to know the actual CR you need more info than head and dome volumes.

No, unless the piston sits above the deck.

You may, and most likely WILL run into a problem. Most tall domes have a spark plug relief machined into the dome. It's designed for the "straight-in" plug of the standard head. The E-heads have angled plugs, so the plug is in a different location near the dome. Diamond makes a piston just for this, or you can open up this area on the Ross piston.

I have eddy 84 cc heads with ross 11.8 pistons and without the stock felpro gasket out of the kit in place the piston did hit the head,I am not sure yet on the spark plug or cam .

hi i am useing the 84 cc E-heads with a 12.5 to 1 ross dome pistons.and on spark plugs i use cut back electrode spark plugs.champion C61CX plug.now with the dome pistons at tdc with a champion C61YC you could not remove the plug.because the electrode would hit the dome.but i would say go and try it.oh yea my 440 block was not a zero deck block.good luck on what ever you decide to do.mopar65

OK here is what I run 446 with E-head 84cc shaved to 80cc Arias 17.5cc domes these are the big domes 0 deck on the flat part of the pistion .039 gasket = 14:1 compresion 620-mp cam .090 valve to pistion clerance. I did modify the pistion dome only for the plug ,but you don't have to notch the pistion for the plug if you run Autolite AR3933 as thay do not have a protruding electrode. I found this out after I put the motor together.
Hope this helps

Interesting information wild......

I am running a 446 with zero decked block with TRW 2295's. The dome was measured with fluid at I believe 8cc's, even though they are listed as 12cc's. I have Eddy 84 cc heads shaved .060 for about 74cc's, .610 lift cam with a lot of overlap and 270 duration- fast ramp Engle HV6. I had to notch the pistons for both intake and exhaust, and used in-head cutter for .120" clearance for us to get a bigger cam later....0.039 compressed gaskets 9 felpro.

Have run it about 2 hrs now, haven't seen above 6900 rpm , but the plugs haven't shown signs of contact with the piston domes... and those domes are notched for plug clearance.

Just more information for others reading this....I calculated our compression at 13.3:1 using somkem-up's website calculator.

Hemiallen the 17.5cc dome is what thay list that is around 15:1 with a 72cc chamber there listing. along with only .090 valve to pistion clearance I end up with .039 pistion to head clerance. I have zinged it out past 7500 a fue times I had to put a 7800 chip in it as I was going into the 7600 chip. but the plugs have looked ok after so I guess it is got enough clerance. I dont normaly shift it past 6800 and trap 7200. but when I shift at 7200 it goes 7600.
