I was planning to pull out the half-big cam and lifters from the 383 and plug them into the new 512...when I discovered a problem and need to buy a new cam set. The car is mainly street use, with the occasional burnout and full throttle accelerations. It may see some light strip use, mainly for fun, since the body is not ready for serious action yet. What would be a good cam for this car? B-body, std 383 converter (will be upgraded to higher stall later), 2.91 in the rear, 14 in rims, mostly street use. - 512 cui, 12.5:1 static compression (e85 fuel), based on a 400 B-block, Stealth lightly ported heads, M1 single plane intake, 1200 CFM throttle body - Multiport sequential direct injection and ignition, E85 fuel I would like to have enough vacuum for the power brakes (i.e. around 12 in minimum), and I want the idle to tell that there is something hotter in this engine.

That converter will stall higher in the 512. Why did you build a street motor with 12.5.1 comp? Mick

Yes, I'm counting on the higher stall in the 383 converter, but it's still old technology and I think I can have both good street manners and roaring performance with a modern converter like a Dynamic 10" or similar.
Regarding the compression, more is merrier (joking, I like efficient engines, where high compression is more efficient)! And 12.5 isn't a problem with E85, I could have higher static compression . My only concern is the head gaskets...
