I believe (but not sure) this bracket goes inside the driver's door to route the remote mirror adjustment cables away from the glass.

1) Is this in fact a bracket for that purpose?
2) If so, where does it attach?

I'm not seeing a place for it.

yes and i think it bolts on the door towards the hinge behind the door panel not in the hinge area..my nos mirror kit comes with a bracket like that but i have not put it on yet

I think its to keep the cable from hanging up in the door glass when rolling up & down

1970 ONLY ? Remote mirror 'cables' route through round hole & bracket bolts to INSIDE of door ........

Funny you should ask. You're right, it does wrangle the cable. I tried getting an answer about location for my '70 A-body years ago and never got one. Could not, for the life of me, find or figure out the original mounting location - and I had removed it! Ended up leaving it off and securing the cable out of the way with something else.

i would slide it over the cable and see where it wants to rest for the best routing.,if nothing flip it over and try again.
