My wife's '03 Caravan has had noise in the front end for a while. Today I checked it out and it looks like the inner tie rod ends are worn (clunks when rocking the steering wheel back and forth)

One place I called wants $500-plus for inner/outer tie rod ends and alignment.

But looking on Rock Auto, I can get a rebuilt rack (AC Delco) and outer tie rod ends (Moog) for under $400. And if I replace the rack, I'll fix a small leak and the worn tie rod problem at the same time.

So, has anyone replaced a rack on a Caravan? If so, how hard is it? I have a Haynes manual but that thing is practically worthless for information. A typical task tells you to remove Widget A, but doesn't mention that there's about ten things you have to do to actually remove it.....

And when a rebuilt rack is called "complete", does it come with inner tie rod ends? That's what the picture shows, but I want to be sure.....

easy job, and they all come with inner tie rod ends. Measure from the nut on the outers and put it back the same way and get it aligned.
