Hi, not been here in a while.
I'm just poking around trying to find a chart that was here in past that shows what years the different cars had the change overs from small bolt pattern wheels to the big bolt pattern wheels.
Can someone please point me in the right direction?

Edit; I'm thinking it's '73, right?

Thx in Adv.

Speaking of a-body cars here;
Beginning in 1973 all v-8 cars (a-bodies) had big bolt pattern (4 1/2") and disc brakes.
However discs were an option on '73-up /6 cars. If a /6 car had discs they were also big bolt pattern. However I've seen many '73-up /6 cars that still had drum brakes with small bolt pattern (4") wheels. I've never seen a '73-up /6 a-body with big bolt pattern and drum brakes.
Hope this helps,
Dallas

The doner car I bought cheap for the BB disk parts for my Dart was a 74 198 Dart 4 door that ran good and stopped for 150 becuase the car was just hideous looking so nobody was willing to buy it.
Like he said the low option no power/6 cars got SB drums till 75 I beleive and everything else got BB disks. I bought the doner after asking on the phone if it had disk brakes and still drove and stopped. I went and made sure and paid the guy his asking price and drove it home. That was quite a few years ago but was a smokin deal just for the parts and a good thing to keep in mind when looking for doner cars.

72 and back A bodies with front disc brakes were 5 on 4".
73 and up A bodies with front disc brakes were 5 on 4-1/2".
All A bodies with 4 wheel drum brakes were 5 on 4".

That is the best explaination! My 75 Dart SE 4-door slant six has the big bolt discs and 8-1/4 rear.

The funny thing about science is that if you change one miniscule parameter you change the entire outcome to the way you want it.

Starting around Jan 1976, all A bodies were 4.5" and disc, 4" and drums were discontinued.

OK so there were never any A body 4.5" front drums?

No 4.5" drums from the factory but it can be done with OEM parts.

The 73-up A bodies used an upper A arm with a larger ball joint (same size as B body) on both drums and discs. So if you want a 4.5" drum on your A body, use the 73-newer upper A arm and a spindle/brake set up from a 66-70 B body.
