Hi folks

Does anyone have dyno numbers comparing horsepower for a high volume versus stock oil pumps for big blocks?
I am just curious about this.

Regards

Kieth, it would be interesting if you would test the new Milodon pump with a stock cast iron cover while you're doing the testing?

I would bet the gains would vary wildly. Windage due to amount of oil, viscosity, running oil pressure, restrictions to valve gear, bearing clearances, would all change the numbers from car to car. Dave Dudeck did a lot of work on his Hemi oil system to get some good gains. Can't recall much, except that he had 4 psi pressure at idle, and not much at WOT! (40?)

Jake,
Did you test on an engine dyno or your chassis dyno?

I've tested them on an oil pump dyno. There isn't much difference, maybe 1 hp. Depends on a lot of factors. Oil temp, pump speed, type of filter, fittings, etc. A little bit of porting goes a long ways.
