I just got a new pair of GY slicks and would like to know how much of a difference would be considered ok. One measures 101.9" the other 102.5". Question is will that cause any real problems? Time to make a phone call to Jegs?
Any help appreciated,
Tony

I usually like to see about 3/8" max difference. When I've had sets that didnt match I usually air the smaller tire up to around 30 psi for about 15 minutes. If you can set it out in the warm sunshine it will help. There have been times I left them aired up for a longer time. Basically your just trying to stretch them out a bit. I guess you could send them back but I've always streched them and they worked fine.

You would be amazed how quick and easy this is to do.

I used do that all the time with roundy round cars to get the stagger we wanted. It works a lot better if they haven't been run yet.

I try to ask and make sure the tires I buy are within 1/4 inch of each other in circumference, most race tires are measured at the factory and the circumference is written on the sides of them so it is no big deal for the seller to give you a set like you want Take a look at your tires and see if there marked, I have had sets that are not what thier mark like when inflated I have also done the high pressure throw them in the sun trick, that doesn't always work if there is a large difference between the tires Yours should inflate to what you want

I get mine direct from Good Year, either at the track or from a dealer as in Roger Krause Racing. I always check the rollout myelf to be sure but in 35 years I have always got rubber that was spot on.
