I have a 1969 440 and I'm not certain what it came out of. The modest exhaust manifolds and the fact that there is no "HP" stamped on the ID plate tells me it wasn't from anything too special.
The number on the passenger side above the pan reads: 9C254478
Is there a way to determine the body type from this? Thanks

Okay that's what I was thinking. And the original trans is gone. Not that it really matters I guess. I was going to rebuild it and make a screamer out of it anyway. Any tips on building a six pack motor? Thanks

The "C" tells us it came from the Jefferson plant. they built Chryslers and Imperials so it's from one of those makes.
Seeking:
1969 St. Louis plant VINs, SPD, and VONs. Over 2,000 thanks to you!

factory 6pack motor or ?
A factory 6pack motor has heavy rods with undersized rod bolts for the weight of them and heavy pistons and is external balanced , using many parts that are hard to find and $$$ because of 2 words strung together ... six and pack .
What exactly are you trying to build ?

My 69 440 is a 4bbl but I wanted to see what it would take to make a six pack motor out of it. Its going into a restomod car anyway so originality isn't an issue. Aftermarket parts are fine with me as long as it delivers good performance. Thanks

Change the cam/springs, change the exh manifolds to HP or headers and put a 6pk on it .. bingo , 6pk motor.
