How many different hood inserts came on 68 Barracuda's. I know the S cars had their own with the 340-S or 383-S callouts. I'm seeing 2 different types on the 318 equipped cars. Some are painted Argent in the center and others are all chrome with the recessed areas painted black.

I'm wondering if the chrome with black is factory or was the argent removed after the paint became scratched or worn. I recently saw a set of these inserts that were chrome with the black area's looking like wrinkled paint.

Did (maybe) the different styles come with certain option packages?

Argent is factory, black is not. Black does look pretty good though.

So then... all the chrome and black inserts out there were Argent at one time?

There was a discussion on this recently on here or FABO. Use the search function here and there. There were some NOS inserts on Ebay that clarified a bunch of questions in that past discussion. I don't think I saved the Ebay picture though.
