My kids 62 300 the balancer actually spun and made a racket. It pretty much fell off.Replaced it with Sumits SFI balancer and all is good.We have run them since the late 90s on BBs and SBs.Great piece for the price.rocky

Bill I had an old Pontiac come in like that.Had a terrible sound.Put it on the rack as I could see the pulleys wobble.Figured it was the balancer.to my suprise the snout of the crank had broke.Told the customer and he wouldnt believe it.He just drove the car away clanging like mad.Dont know how far he made it.Rocky

More than likely it's a worn out balance r, especially if it was a stock balance r. If the motor is not leaking oil in front, then you can be sure it's just the balance r.
I think your spell checker is not working properly ???

We pulled the engine this afternoon (I'm sure my clients were thrilled with my absence from the office) and will take a look at the bottom end tomorrow if all goes according to plan. I love the previous post about the Pontiac and its owner in a state of disbelief. I must admit to not being much of a "real" mechanic (hopefully I'm better at being a lawyer)but I am truly amazed that this thing still ran. BP
