I have been having a problem with my car for 3 seasons
now, I have lost 2 tenth's in the et department, and nothing
I have done has got it back, I am at a loss as to why it has
slowed down, I just put a fresh engine in the car, as I thought
with the cylinder wall clearence my other worn out blocks had,
that this might be the problem, but hit a test and tune today,
and for the weather, comparing it to the last 3 seasons, it still
runs the same, I have been thru the trans, rearend, suspension,
and I can't for the life of me, find anything, on the car that
is bad, or not working like it should, only thing that has not
been changed is the convertor, but it is so deadly, I just can't
believe there is something wrong with the convertor, car will print
time slips, I just made 2 shots today with it, and both were within
.001 out of both lanes, heck last season I changed it over to alky
just lookin for something, and it ran the same as with gas, we back to backed it at the track, and no one could believe it did not run
any faster on the alky, sooooooo if anyone has a suggestion I am all ears, let's have some input, and see what everyone else thinks about
this.

Does it have an 8-3/4 in it? If so check to see if housing is bent, I have seen cars slow down as much as .4 because of a bent housing, it puts an incredible bind on the driveline...poppaj

How old are the slicks??Is your 60 the same or did it suffer as well?

heard this exact same story one night at that track from a guy I hadn't seen in years. he changed everything.

it was the fuel he was using. he went down on octane and it was right back to where it was. but you tried a fuel change so doesnt sound the same

Is the MPH the same? or has it dropped a bit to? how does the time slip compare, 60'? 660'?1000'? quarter evidenty -.2

Make sure you dont have a brake caliper hanging up if you havent looked already.

Is this a bracket car or an index chaser?Are you trying to pick it up to a certain performance level? If it is that consistent ,run it.A lot of guys would give the left jewel for that kind of consistency.

Borrow another ignition box.. my car did the same
thing.... mine was the 7al box... once I changed it
and got the time back I did a A-B-A test and it was
the box... so I sent it into MSD and they said it was
fine but magically it worked fine after they had it

Most of the time its as simple as a wounded amplifier...and an up date..Did an A to B to A found out the one i purchased in the box from a friend was hurt...tech west the only place to send em...pat collins...i to was down about 2 to 3 tenths...till it backfired the front power valve...then for get it .....B is back in car we will see soon?

I know You don't want to think about it being so but I think it's your convertor. My friend had the same problem and he tried everything and finally borrowed a convertor and picked up 3 tenths and his 60 ft times were back where He wanted them. He bought a new convertor after that so He's happy again. Can You borrow anyone's convertor with a car close to your set-up to see??

Tires are fresh, I rolled a new set on recently

Changed fuel, just lookin, no changes with fuel

Car is down 4 mph, and this is 1/8 mile racing

Changed ignition boxes, put a new one on, and
also have one from Pat at tech west, no changes
with either.

I am at a loss as to what has happened, the engine combo
has not changed in the last 6 seasons, except for doing
a fresh block every other year, has a fresh one in now,
same heads, camshaft, pistons and rods, crank is the same,
don't know where to make a move anymore, there is not a
nut or bolt on this thing that has not been looked at,
the car starts and runs fine, doesn't miss, seems to
work just fine, the car is off every where on the race track.
60's 330's finish line, and mph, have tried 3 different
carbs, nothing I do makes a difference.

Did you use the same fuel system when you ran the alcholol? Can you jet your carb. up fat enough to slow the car down on the MPH, 330 and 60 ft. times? If not look at your fuel system Check the rear end also, remove the rear tires and brake drums, use two straight edges and measure off of the axle flangs out 16 inches in front and back side of the rear end and the same for top and bottom, if you have enough room om the top If it is 1/4 inch or more different front to back and or top to bottom have it straightened or replace it Lots of gremlins out there, the tuogh part is finding them sometimes
