Has anyone used the Milodon oil system part #21010 with a stock K frame? It's supposed to work with a stock K frame but I'm having trouble figuring out how to route the hose. Any pictures or help would be great!

Thanks,
Bill

I've got a single line and Milodon pan but I use the rear exit. I'll check to see if I have any pictures..

There are a couple ways to route the line but it usually requires some modification to the K member or even cutting a fitting and rewelding to a specific angle. You can make it fit if you cut a 90 degree fitting and reweld it so that it points down through the steering box mount. This method means you have to install the line on the pump but not on the pan pickup with the engine out of the vehicle. You thread the line down through the steering box mount as you lower the engine in place and then connect it to the pan.

Sorry, no pictures of this method but a good friend of mine went this route and it works well and has the added bonus of a very short pickup line.

Another method is to fabricate a U shaped tube and bring the line forward under the oil filter and then back along side the pan. This requires a small notch to be cut in the steering mount. It utilizes a longer line but can be fully assembled before dropping the engine into place. This is the route I took with mine and here are three pictures of this method.

I used a 90 degree hose end, turned the fitting on the cover to 12:oo up, and routed the hose down through the k-member. I also pointed the pan fitting straight foward. You can do this by just adding one of these 90 degree couplings http://www.summitracing.com/parts/aer-fbm3158/overview/ . The hose hangs a little lower but stays way clear of the headers. sorry, but I don't have any pictures.

PC-Charger, I'm prepared to make some modifications to the K frame if necessary. I looked at the area near the steering box and thought it might work through there with some help. When I got the system, I pictured it running around the front under the oil filter and along the pan like you did yours. However, it won't work with the supplied fittings and hose, its to tight of a turn for the hose to work. I'd really like to see your buddy's set up, if there is any way you could get a photo of it?

i have read that the line from the pan to the pump, before it goes into the pump, should be higher than the cover inlet so when the engine is not running the pump will have a ready supply of oil (primed). i will be doing this to mine. just is a good idea...

That sounds like how 66er did his. I'm not sure that I have the space to do it that way.

yah, i am using elephant ears and fenderwell headers so i have alot of real estate to play with. remember to use a filter with a pressure rating for your pump. a buddy said he blew a filter last year but for what ever reason they run 80 psi. keep us posted.

I just emailed my friend and asked him to post some pictures if he has them. They will be posted by user Big Wedge.

Hi Bill,

This is the way I did mine. There are a number of pictures so I will try to explain as I go. The modifications also include the pan and the pump itself.

The first set of pictures is of the line. I had to make my own oddball fitting to an angle that would point through the engine/steering box support.

I made my own crowsfoot wrench to get at the hose connection. This way I can take off the line when I pull the engine. It was easier to do than I thought.

Another item to keep in mind is the Milodons are notorious for spitting out the interface gasket with only 2 fasteners. My machine installed a couple more for good measure. It has worked without any problems.
