Was told by AC shop my Compressor is seized. Cannot turn the center of clutch by hand. Has current to comp. Does not engage.
There is a TSB on these from lack of oil.
Has rear AC. I can get a NEW DENSO brand Oem Compressor a a good price.
I had a shop quote me the entire job with warranty, not sure what comp they would get for 800.00.
Said they would flush the system, not sure if just the condenser or evaps.
I understand any metal from a bad comp would generally be in the condenser.
The TSB had a whole kit and said check for desicant contimination.
If desicant is in system, the expansion valves must be removed to flush the evaporators.
This is a really big job on the rear AC units. The TSB actually recommended replacing the suction line that runs under the van. This was all in a kit under waranty.
Hope I have no desicant contimination.
I suspect my shop would charge much more to fluch the evaps.
I am really not able to do all of the work, or at least I do not want to.
I can replace the compressor, the dryer , pull a vacum and charge.
I guess, I really need to check for desicant failure because then all that work will have to be performed.
My question is how common is dessicant contimination in these systems?
