Buddy has a 2000 ram 1500 with 5,2. Auto trans is shifting ok when cold then as soon as its up to temp trans wont shift into next gear without reving engine to 3 grand or more. Is this trans history or is there a fix? We already changed fluid filter and did band adjustment to no avail thanks!o.

Sounds like an output speed sensor or governor pressure sensor/switch, it would be wise to have a qualified shop scan and check this before you start replacing parts, could save time and money

Also make sure nothing is causing the trans throttle pressure control to stick causing high tranny throttle pressure which will make the shifts points much higher. That should be cable controlled so make sure its not binding when its warm and check the lever on the trans for sticking. Many times if it has a shift problem in more then one gear it can be trans throttle press related. Ron

I saw the thread title and thought you'd been hanging out in the wrong neighborhood.
