If you switch to a drivers side lower hose radiator, you can. My radiator was new, so I opted to move the alt to the drivers side.

Are you talking SB or BB... this will give you a idea
of the clearance... I cant remember the height of
the alt in the stock location.... mine is mounted
to the frame rail

Put it on the frame.

Not "stock" location, but it's the shortest belt we could find that fit the pulleys nicely.

If it's any help, I used the much smaller Neon alternator on mine.

I couldn't figure out how to with where the CSR puts the rad hose. Maybe if you spaced the crank pulley way out and ran the hose through the belt?

I dont know for fact but if you look at the upper line
of the belt I think its gonna hit the water pump...
unless the alt is lower than what I think it was in
the stock location..... myself I wouldnt run it in the
stock location.. the belt would be too long and maybe
spit the belt off... a short belt is always better

Bob Mazzolini had brackets that allowed you too.

Mazzolini brackets worked with meziere, not sure on CSR and the bracket is for a Powermaster. Spoke with him and he did not have any more available, that was a year ago though

Would adding an idler pulley get the job done? Maybe one under the water pump to keep the belt shorter than if you put an idler above the water pump?

My SB motor plates come with a built in mount for a small Powermaster alternator. The small alternators will fit in between the motor plate and the K-frame. My setup hangs the adjusting strap from the motor plate also so it is a self contained unit.
